Matakana Tour

A small sample of what can easily be seen within a couple hour's drive of Auckland City.

Tour Description & Details

After collecting you at your hotel, we’ll travel north over the Harbour Bridge where our first stop will be the Parry Kauri Park and Warkworth Museum. Here you can stand under a giant Kauri 800 years old, and immerse yourself in the pioneering history of this region.

This is followed by a tour of the unique Brick Bay Sculpture Trail in the heart of Brick Bay Vineyard, where you will experience a compelling outdoor gallery exhibition of around 45 sculptures sited along the 2km trail, framed by towering native trees, majestic palms, abundant birdlife and green pastures. A refreshing wine tasting is waiting for you at the end of the trail!

By now everyone will be hungry so off to a choice of sophisticated cafés and restaurants in picturesque Matakana Village, the vibrant heart of this thriving wine region with over 30 boutique vineyards and olive growers, and home of the hugely popular Saturday Farmers’ Market. Here you’ll have a great choice of local cuisine and can sample any number of tasty hand-crafted wines from the region.

After lunch, we’ll travel east to Anchor Bay, arguably the most beautiful beach in the Auckland region, in the heart of the Tawharanui Regional Park. This Park and the associated Marine Reserve, as well as having truly stunning scenery, have a rich geological and archaeological history.

To finish the day, we’ll pop into Chocolate Brown on our way back to Auckland, where you can sample fresh handmade chocolates that they produce daily using only the finest ingredients and no preservatives. This is a chocolate lover’s heaven and never disappoints!
