Tasman ViewA great half day tour if you're on a limited time budget!
Tour Description & Details
If you’re only in Auckland for a short time but would like to get a taste of out great outdoors, this is definitely one for you! Only a short drive from the city centre, your first stop will be the Arataki Visitor Centre which nestles high up in the Waitakere Ranges offering expansive panoramic views to the Manukau Harbour in the South and the Waitemata Harbour in the North. Learn about the unique fauna and flora of this Regional Park, and the significance of the huge Māori totem that overlooks the Centre.
Take an easy walk from the Centre into the lush rainforest where you will be surrounded by giant tree ferns and pristine streams tinkling through the wilderness. Also, see some of NZ’s famous Kauri trees, the history of which your guide will tell you all about.
A few minutes further west you will reach a high point that was used in days gone by as a World War II radar station to detect enemy planes approaching over the Tasman Sea. The track begins here and makes its way along the top of the highest sea cliffs in the Auckland region providing spectacular views north towards Muriwai and south to Whatipu. If you take this tour in the afternoon, the chance of seeing a great sunset is high!
Suggestion: If your group would like to be guided for the whole day, you can add the City of Sails Tour in the morning and book the City and Bush Tour as one full day adventure.
